Squeaky clean: introducing the Propelair high-performance toilet
Spend less money on water and improve student hygiene with the Propelair high-performance toilet.
The Propelair high-performance toilet is an alternative solution to conventional designs, utilising innovative technology to save water and maintain high standards of hygiene. Perfect for use in schools, it has a number of unique features.
How does it work?
The Propelair toilet has a two-section cistern: one for water and one for air. Before flushing, the lid is closed to form a seal. When the user activates the flush sensor, water enters the pan first, washing it out before air forces the waste through a trap door.
Because the compressed airline is pressurised, the contents of the toilet are easily forced through a small-bore waste pipe. The remaining water then fills the water trap. It takes just 3 seconds for the flush to be completed, with the toilet ready to be re-flushed within 20-30 seconds.
But what are the benefits of Propelair toilets for schools?
Less water is used
One of the benefits of installing Propelair high-performance toilets in schools is the ability to cut down on water usage. It is estimated that a typical toilet in the UK uses around 9 litres of water per flush, while some older versions use up to 11 litres. This is a large amount of water and statistically accounts for between 80%-90% of water usage in a school.
The Propelair toilet, in comparison, uses just 1.5 litres of water per flush, which is great for the environment as well as your water bill.
Improves hygiene standards
Hygiene is a primary concern in schools, and high standards are required to prevent the spread of bacteria and viruses among students and staff. The Propelair toilet is one of the most hygienic options there is thanks to its unique closeable lid, which traps germs inside and removes them with its powerful air flush.
The same can’t be said for conventional toilets, which leave behind approximately 6% of previous users’ waste. These germs can then become airborne again in subsequent flushes. Propelair toilets remove up to 99.9% of contaminants, further reducing the risk of cross-contamination.
Saves on drainage space and installation costs
Propelair toilets can be adapted to work with the existing design plans of a school or installed as like-for-like replacements. Not only does this mean that they can be installed almost anywhere, but they also save on space, as their bore pipes are significantly smaller than conventional UK toilets.
Even if the repositioning of a toilet can’t be avoided, the waste pipes are flexible and don’t rely on a fall in the plumbing network to work. This also means that extra toilets can be added without having to extend the existing drainage system.
Ultimately, the Propelair high-performance toilet uses less water and energy, boosting the efficiency and performance of your school building.
